Association of Electric Companies of Texas Names New Leader
Mark Bell brings wealth of government and industry knowledge to organization
Austin, Texas - The Association of Electric Companies of Texas (AECT) is proud to announce that Mark Bell has been named new President and Chief Executive Officer of the organization.
“After a robust search and careful consideration, we are confident that we have identified a leader who will maintain and build upon the strength of the association,” said Jessica Oney, Chair of AECT Board of Directors. “Mark is a natural-born leader who has a deep understanding of our industry and the state of Texas. His collaborative spirit and breadth of experience will be instrumental to AECT’s success, and we are confident he will hit the ground running.”
“I’m proud to join AECT as its new CEO,” said Mr. Bell. “In my new role, I will work tirelessly to ensure AECT remains the leading authority and resource on electricity in Texas. Our member companies are integral to the economy and health of the state, and we will continue to meet the needs of all Texans.”
Mr. Bell has more than 30 years of experience working in and around the Texas Legislature, state government, and the executive branch. During the last three years, he has served as Deputy Chief of Staff for both Speaker Dade Phelan and Speaker Dennis Bonnen. During the 1990’s, Mark worked for Speaker Pete Laney. Prior to rejoining the Speaker’s Office in 2019, he worked with an array of organizations focusing on the comprehensive oversight and coordination of their legislative advocacy programs. Bell has a deep understanding of the legislative process and strategy supporting complex legislative policy goals.
