AECT supports cost-effective enhancements to the regulatory process for electric utilities by adopting mechanisms that reduce unproductive and duplicative legal proceedings, lower the cost of regulation and improve the ability of utilities to build the infrastructure our growing state needs.

The retail electric market in ERCOT continues to provide innovative products and competitive prices to consumers, even after over 20 years of operation. AECT supports allowing consumers to drive the adoption of affordable and innovative products in the retail market.

Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) can be utilized as an addition to ERCOT’s generation portfolio. AECT supports safely integrating DERs in a manner that promotes competition and customer choice while preserving utilities’ statutory obligation to maintain grid reliability and reliably serve customers.

Overseeing the electric industry requires significant expertise and experience throughout the Public Utility Commission (PUC). AECT supports the PUC’s efforts to increase funding, add full-time employees, and improve its ability to retain employees.
